“Owen was very kind and helpful to us older (early 70s) fisher people. He especially helped my wife. He had some good stories and brought his your lab with in the boat and the dog behaved just fine. The salmon were running heavy closer to Kenai and Soldotna but we caught some. It's all about timing. He offered to let us fish for rainbow trout, but we were only interested in the salmon. Fun experience.”

Full-Day Upper Kenai River Guided Fishing Trip

4.Full-Day Upper Kenai River Guided Fishing Trip

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 49 reviews · 8 hours (approx.) · from $565

Start at 6:00 am in Cooper Landing for an eight-hour guided drift on the Upper Kenai River. Your guide supplies fly, spin, and bait-casting gear, teaches beginners, and fishes permitted waters in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and Chugach National Forest. Salmon may be kept within seasonal limits, while trout and Dolly Varden are catch and release.

“We had a fantastic time fishing the Upper Kenai River. Our guide worked very hard to keep us in the fish and to put us where we wanted to be to catch fish. He gave us good instructions on how to cast and use the open face reels, that hate me. I actually broke my empty handed streak and caught some very nice fish as did my husband who is an accomplished fisherman. We saw some beautiful scenery that one would never see any other way. It was well worth it. If you can make the time, take this fishing trip.”
